Just as an artist is known by a
distinctive style, so God is discerned, seen by the ways in which he acts in the
world.
It is often through the reality of worship
and the significance of humble service that a sense of God's presence is known
and his power experienced.
Worship
-- can be thought of as doing for God the things human beings need to do.
WORSHIP includes
giving praise/span> - both spoken and sung;
praying - both individually and together;
receiving - forgiveness and healing
learning - by studying and hearing the
Bible as God's Word, at once teaching spiritual truth and sometimes directly
touching us as if by personal message;
responding to God
- by giving of our abilities, wealth and love
Witness
- can be thought of as doing what God needs
done.
WITNESS includes
telling the message of Jesus' love, with the intention that
others will become his followers;
showing his love in acts of selfless service;
working for fairness and peace among people;
caring for the earth and its resources
In being the people of God who worship and
witness, Methodists seek to work in partnership with all who share common
values.
